This event will be held on Friday, October 20 at Cinemark University City Penn 6. The movie will begin PROMPTLY at 7:45 pm WITH NO TRAILERS.

Access to the event is FREE. However, there are a limited number of seats in the theater. Please arrive by 7:45 pm at the latest to secure a seat. If you are not here at 7:45, we cannot guarantee you a seat (even if you have a ticket). Due to the limited number of tickets please only claim a ticket if you intend on going.

SPEC Fest

2022: SPEC Fall Fest

SPEC is proud to announce the inaugural iteration of SPEC Fest! On November 5th, from 1-3pm, join SPEC on College Green for fall festivities!

SPEC Fest will include food vendors, such as Li Ping Corn Company, Dump-N-Roll, Fox and Sun, Okie Dokie Donuts, Lula’s Empanadas, and Fat Belly BBQ with servings of apple cider and sponsored coffee cans from La Colombe.

In addition, SPEC Fest-goers get to enjoy a pumpkin patch, apple factory, giant-sized yard games, inflatables, photo booths, and airbrush tattoo artists. We have over 350 small pumpkins for you to take home.

No tickets are required – entry is free for Penn students. Remember to bring your Penn ID card in order to get a wristband for entry. Vendors are unable to serve you if you do not have a wristband, so make sure to head over to the ticketing table before you step into any queues for food or activities.

SPEC Connaissance and SPEC Film is excited to announce the 2022 Fall speaker: the legendary Spike Lee!

The event is open to the Penn and Philadelphia community and will be held at Irvine Auditorium on November 1st at 7:00PM. The event will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and will close at 7:05 PM. If you do not arrive prior to this time, you will not be allowed entry.

Tickets cost $5. You won’t want to miss it!

SPEC Film: An Evening with Matthew Luhn

SPEC Film is proud to present our Spring 2022 event: An evening with Matthew Luhn

Matthew Luhn is an accomplished storyteller, instructor, motivational keynote speaker, and story consultant, with over 20 years’ experience creating stories and characters at Pixar Animation Studios. Matthew’s story credits include Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3, Monsters Inc., Monsters University, Finding Nemo, UP, Cars, Ratatouille and other films currently in development. With over 20 years experience creating and developing dozens of films, TV shows, and video games, at Pixar, The Simpsons, ILM, and other studios, Matthew Luhn knows what it takes to create memorable stories with enduring characters.

The event will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. This evening will consist of a moderated conversation and audience questions gathered beforehand.

This event is open EXCLUSIVELY to the University of Pennsylvania students, staff, and faculty. Tickets are free!

SPEC Spring Fling (Daytime): Spring Fling 2022 Carnival

2022 Theme: Revival of the Fling

SPEC Spring Fling (Daytime) will be held at Penn Park South Field on Saturday, April 9 between 12PM and 5PM, and will include free food trucks, fun activities, and giveaways. The theme for this year is “Revival of the Fling.” Be sure to grab some free Fling merch featuring Rithu Rajagopala’s (W’23) design!

As a reminder, no tickets are required for the daytime carnival – entry is free for Penn students.

Here is some helpful information prior to arrival:

  • Anyone with a PennCard or Guest Pass can enter for free.

  • A free Penn Transit shuttle will run from 11:30 AM until 5:30 pm on 30-minute intervals which will drop you off and pick you up by Shoemaker Green with stops along Walnut and Spruce Streets between 33rd and 40th Streets. 

  • You will be given 3 tickets to be used for free food at any of the following vendors: Dump N Roll, Fox and Sun, Dos Hermanos, MacMart, and Lil Pop Shop.

  • The first 1,000 students to arrive will receive free merch.

  • Student groups will be performing throughout the day.

  • There will be various interactive activities and entertainers occurring at the carnival this year, including a massive inflatable slide, climbing wall, caricaturists, balloon artists, and many carnival games with prizes.

SPEC Concerts: Spring Fling 2022 Concerts

SPEC Concerts is excited to announce that the final lineup for the Spring Fling 2022 Concert includes Cheat Codes, Flo Milli, and Lil Yachty. The concert will be held at Penn Park on Friday, April 8th.

Doors open at 7:00 PM and show starts at 8:00 PM. Doors close at 10:30 PM.

Tickets are going fast, so purchase them via the link below. Non-Penn Guests over 18+ must purchase a General Public ticket. Tickets are $30 for Penn students and $45 for Non-Penn Guests.

A free Penn Transit shuttle will run from 6:30 PM until 11:30 pm on 30-minute intervals which will drop you off and pick you up by Shoemaker Green with stops along Walnut and Spruce Streets between 33rd and 40th Streets.

To ensure a stress-free entrance, please be aware of the following:

  • To enter, you MUST bring your correct ticket with matching ID

  • Penn student ticket holders must present their active PennCard

  • General Public ticket holders must present their 18+ government ID

  • Bag checks and metal wand/pat downs will be held at the door for items disallowed from the venue (bottles, containers, bags, backpacks, umbrellas, laser pointers, glass, video cameras, weapons, non-service animals, unapproved merchandise, or recording devices)

  • No re-entry will be allowed into the venue
