Students enjoy the annual Mask and Wig performance on the Lower Quad Stage

SPEC Spring Fling organizes Spring Fling, the biggest (and best) college festival on the East Cost and a Penn tradition in existence for 35 years. Each April, nearly 10,000 students and their friends get a chance to revel in the sun before final exams begin. Food vendors, inflatables, live performances by student groups, local bands and much more fills the Quad. On Saturday night, Penn students enjoy more inflatables and games, a DJ party, and free food from their favorite vendors, including Magic Carpet, Chipotle, Capogiro Gelato, and Pat’s Cheesesteaks.

This year’s spring fling will be April 11-12, 2014.

Guest pass sales will begin on Wednesday, March 26th and continue through Wednesday, April 9th. Passes will be sold in the room next to the Office of Student Life, on the second floor of Houston Hall, from 10AM until 4PM.

A guest pass is needed for any visitor (non-Penn ID holder) wishing to enter the Quad between 5PM on Wednesday, April 9, through 10AM on Sunday, April 13.  The only acceptable pass for Quad visitors during this period is the Spring Fling Guest Pass.

In order to purchase your tickets, you must:

1) Print and sign the Guest Pass Rules to be found on www.specevents.net/guestpass
2) When purchasing your tickets, you must bring:
a. your completed Guest Pass Rules
b. $20 per guest pass you would like to purchase (each student is limited to two passes)

SPEC Spring Fling will now be accepting applications for Fling Safe volunteers. Fling Safe, the student-run risk management group on campus during Spring Fling, patrols the Quad ensuring that fellow students are safely enjoying the weekend’s activities. If selected, volunteers must attend one of two mandatory training sessions and successfully complete a 2-hour Fling Safe shift during the Friday or Saturday of the Fling weekend. Volunteers will be compensated with a free, limited edition Fling Safe t-shirt and a Fling Concert ticket.

  1. The short application (NOW CLOSED) will be open from Monday, March 11 to Tuesday, March 19 at 11:59pm EST.

  2. Selected volunteers will be notified by Sunday, March 24.
  3. Volunteers must attend one of two mandatory training sessions held on Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2 from 2pm-3pm in JMHH G06. If a selected volunteer cannot attend either training session, he/she can no longer be a volunteer.
  4. Volunteers who attend the training session will then complete a 2-hour Fling Safe shift on Friday, April 12 or Saturday, April 13 (Fling weekend).
  5. As compensation, volunteers will be given a limited edition Fling Safe t-shirt to be worn while on duty, and a Fling Concert ticket. (In their acceptance email, volunteers will be told which section of the Fling Concert their ticket corresponds to, so that they can tell their non-volunteer friends in which section they should purchase their tickets, should they wish to sit together.)
