In this panel discussion faculty from Anthropology, Film Studies, and Psychoanalysis will use the Academy Award winning film Crash as a starting point for a discussion of how these disciplines use the concepts of cultural, interpersonal, and intrapsychic conflict. They will also compare different concepts of character as use by the different disciplines. They will use excerpts from the film to illustrate the approaches to the use of these concepts in understanding personal, racial, and cultural conflicts in contemporary society. This panel should be especially illuminating since one of the panelists, Andrew Reimer, is the executive producer of the film.
Come hear the story of the making of the cult hits BOONDOCK SAINTS and BOONDOCK SAINTS II: ALL SAINTS DAY from the filmmakers themselves! Writer/Director TROY DUFFY, producer CHRIS BRINKER, and actor DAVID DELLA ROCCO will detail their experiences getting these films made, show a never-before-seen film about the process, and answer your questions!
The event will be held on FRIDAY MARCH 19TH, 7PM, in COLLEGE HALL 200.
After the show, the filmmakers and actor will be signing autographs, so be sure to bring any Boondock Saints merchandise you have to get it signed, and meet them face to face!
The event is free and open to the entire Penn community. No tickets are necessary. Doors open at 6:30, so show up early because seating is limited. Hope to see you there!

ComFest is a one-night-only annual show where SPEC and the Mask and Wig Club invite sketch comedy troupes from other schools in the region to join them on stage in what can be described as nothing other than a Comedy Festival. This SPEC and Mask and Wig will be enjoying the comedic stylings of University of Maryland’s SKETCHUP, Princeton’s Triangle Club, and Boston College’s Hello…Shovelhead!
And to top it all off, there’s always a SWEET CELEBRITY COMEDIAN to host the event. Previous hosts include Judah Friedlander, Kenan Thompson, and Steven Colbert. And this year is no different.
You loved him when he put his bum on the Swedish. You loved him when he humped a dead moose. You especially loved him when he televised the removal of his right testicle. It is SPEC’s pleasure to announce that Tom Green will be hosting Comfest this year!
Check out the DP coverage here. Tickets ($10, $8 for Seniors) will be available on Locust Walk.
You can also see Mask and Wig’s coverage of the event here.

Youth in Revolt” is a coming-of-age comedy that puts a fresh and outrageous stamp on a tale of adolescent obsession and rebellion. Starring Michael Cera (also of the Oscar® winning film “Juno” and “Superbad”) and based on the acclaimed novel by C.D. Payne, “Youth in Revolt” is the story of Nick Twisp a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) while on a family vacation. But family, geography and jealous ex-lovers conspire to keep these two apart. With Sheenis encouragement, Nick abandons his dull, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego: Francois. With his ascot, his moustache and his cigarette, Francois will stop at nothing to be with Sheeni, and leads Nick Twisp on a path of destruction with unpredictable and uproarious consequences.
